This beautiful art
piece was
painted in Ethiopian Coffee and given to us by the soon-to-be Auntie Laura Johnson. This gift is so special to us for many reasons. It celebrates the Ethiopian culture of our awaited children and shows the support and
excitement of the extended family that is waiting to welcome them home. Its an amazing gift that blew us away. I took close up pictures of the scenes scattered around Africa. The detail and insight are crazy and to top it all off, this was her first attempt at
painting with coffee. The verse in the center of Africa was the verse that called Justin to go
forward with the adoption. To read more about this special verse

As we expressed to her how much we loved the gift and how very special it was to us, the idea came up that maybe others who are adopting from Africa would be interested in paintings to decorate their homes or nurseries with. I know one of the things
I'm looking forward to when we go to Ethiopia is shopping for cultural items to decorate our home with. We want to integrate the Ethiopian culture that we have grown to love with our home so that our children can see these items and feel proud of their heritage. The strength and beauty of Africa has always drawn me in!
So with that small suggestion/idea she whipped out 4 incredible new painting and gave them to us to do as a fundraiser.
Generosity, talent, love and support in action! We
haven't decided yet if it will be a raffle or a simple sale but I cant wait to show them off.
I'm open to ideas or suggestions. I know that many of us have done fundraisers so there is lots of wisdom to be gained by asking all the
fundraising adoptive families. Please

ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! This is beautiful! She is so talented! Can't wait to catch up on Sunday. :)
ReplyDeleteIs there any way you could make prints of them for staionary/card too? Another item to sell for those who can't bid as high (going through adoption themselves!) or would just love to share the talent with others!
ReplyDeleteI never saw this post until now...that is absolutely incredible. I have never seen anything like it! Your aunt could sell those and make a mint! I wish I could buy one...
